Massachusetts House of Representatives Calls to Support RNK’s Self-Determination

The RNK representation to USA spread a message, which we present below. "On August 6, the U.S. House of Representatives of the State of Massachusetts passed a resolution authored by a member of the House of Representatives, Jonathan Hecht, which calls the U.S. President and Congress to support the democratic independence and self-determination of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The resolution condemns the massacres of Armenians in Sumgait, Kirovabad, Baku, as well as the violence implemented by Azerbaijan towards the peaceful demonstrators who required the self-determination of Nagorno-Karabakh. The document stresses that at present Azerbaijan still continues to threaten the security of the Nagorno Karabakh with its hostile actions. The resolution highly appreciates the fact, that people of Nagorno Karabakh, despite the continuing violence, voted in favor of independence, freedom and democracy in the nationwide referendum held on December 10, 1991. The resolution welcomes Nagorno-Karabakh's successes in building democracy and in that concern, appreciates as a great step the presidential elections held on July 19, 2012. "We are grateful to the Massachusetts House of Representatives for adopting a resolution supporting the freedom of Artsakh. By adopting this resolution, Massachusetts legislators promoted the universal values of human rights and freedoms," Robert Avetisyan, the Permanent Representative of Nagorno Karabagh to USA, said on adopting the resolution. “We are grateful to the Massachusetts House of Representatives for adopting a resolution supporting the freedom of Artsakh. By adopting this resolution, Massachusetts legislators promoted the universal values of human rights and freedoms. We express our gratitude to the Congressman Hecht, for his decisive leadership on this issue. We highly appreciate the dedication and continuous efforts of our compatriots and long-time supporters- James Galustyan and Peter Kutujyan, the Sheriff of Middlesex county, directed to the pursuit of Artsakh interests in the USA.”
